reflection in a dirty window

telephone boxes
so neglected these days
nicely painted
but rarely used
dressed up, with nowhere to go
more to look at than anything
have achieved iconic status
retro art
still better than anything they make these days
aesthetically that is
too expensive to make
that's why so many modern buildings are so ugly
creativity has become too expensive?
our modern buildings have neglected their appearance

what is worse?
to be neglected by others
or to neglect yourself?

Lovely description.

The guy strolling past chatting on his mobile makes a good contrast - the young, dynamic, agile face of modern communications versus the static, immobile, neglected methods of an earlier age.

I still think it a great piece of design however; part of Sir Giles Gilbert Scott's excellent architectural legacy.

Your description for this piece is most profound.
I like it alot.
And I find telephone boxes most charming indeed.I love the way that in your picture you've caught a guy walking by on his mobile phone! It's a nice lil detail,it all works so well.It is a sa thing that someone that was once to grand is left to watch the changing, developing world around it.Though I like to think they've got many happy memories-to think of how many people have stood in that red box.
It's all rather thought provoking.
Excelent.
