gladly i suffer
fools by the dozen
like eggs
in a basket
together
to be broken

my friends and i
if we didn't need each other
would not sit inside our shells
cracking
but not laughing
at each other's jokes


broken dreams
don't make omolettes
they stay in bed
and miss breakfast
