catch the sun

you caught the sun without even trying
so unaware, you dropped it
it made patterns on your skin
patches of red inside
white lines, trying to hide
there is always a catch
it may catch up with you in time

i used to call you
and always catch you out
now it doesn't matter anymore
as the sun drops down
beneath the line
with patches of red
and all i think about
is catching up
with some sleep.
