with hindsight
we might learn to expect the unexpected
especially if we are pretending
to be surprised

major events happen
some gamble on them
bank on them

it is lost on us
do the winners ever lose?
maybe on those special sundays

black friday
followed no ordinary thursday
and lead to a month of them

but it was not our swansong
